The next meeting for Photographers East will be not be held next Monday, but on Monday, June 15th instead, starting at 7PM in the Community Room of Bridgehampton National Bank, Snake Hollow Rd in Bridgehampton.
I’m hoping participants in Dan Welden’s Solarplate workshop will bring their work to share with the group. For those that missed the workshop, his ‘Printmaking in the Sun‘ DVD will be available at a discounted price (at the meeting only). More information about the solarplate process can be found on his website: SOLARPLATE
Another website: Polymer Photogravure Intaglio Printmaking Tips has excellent information about polymer intaglio printmaking. It also notes that, “Some of the most famous and well documented photogravure prints in the world of art are now available in high-resolution digital images on The Metropolitian Museum of Art’s website free of charge. http://www.metmuseum.org/collection/the-collection-online/search?ft=photogravure&ao=on&noqs=true
*The photogravure process creates a type of intaglio print. Using this method, a cover plate gets coated with photosensitive gelatin tissue. This light-sensitive tissue is exposed to a film positive before being etched. This type of intaglio print can produce the continuous tones and detail associated with photographs.
All work is welcome, and this meeting Fred VanderWerven will be running the projector. If you have work to project, please bring your files on a thumb drive (memory stick).
