Dave received the contract for our Annual Spring Show at Ashawagh Hall. The show dates are May 9th & 10th with drop off being Friday May 8th from 12 – 1PM. We will have an Opening Reception on Saturday. We will have to coordinate the times with Fred but if memory serves it is usually 3 or 4 to 6 or 7. The theme has been Photographer’s Choice the last few years and will be again this year. The fee will be about $100. Please let Dave Gilmore (dwgcamera@gmail.com) or Fred VanderWerven (fredvan@aol.com) know if you are interested in hanging work at the show.

Dalton Portella is an interdisciplinary artist and musician living and working in Montauk. Born in Miami, raised in Brazil. He moved to NY to study Art. In 2001 he moved to Montauk. He has shown extensively on the East End and New York. He is currently represented by Karyn Mannix Contemporary, Sara Nightingale Gallery, Watermill, Outeast Gallery, Montauk, Isabella Garrucho Fine Art, Westport CT, Robin Rice Gallery, NYC and Solar Gallery, East Hampton.
Also, we received the following request: “I was looking for a photographer for a family photo on July 28 or 29 in Amagansett we are getting together and need just a family photo. Do you know anyone who can provide this service for us.”
I will make an announcement at the meeting, but if you can’t make the meeting and would like to be put in touch with the family, drop me a line.

Kathy and Gordon Gooding have been taking photographs for most of their 48 years together. Kathy loves her telephoto and macro lenses –so she can get “near” or close to the objects she shoots. She looks for designs and color. Her background as a sculptor and visual artist make most of her work more abstract.
Gordon prefers to look at things from a “far” more recently using his new wide-angle lens. He searches for patterns, textures and perspective. His background in architecture and construction, make his work more mechanical and structured.
Kathy and Gordon are just learning how to use Lightroom and Photoshop- as well as their new iMac. Most of what they shoot is to done solely to record episodes in their life. The photos you will see are grouped by themes rather than location. Pictures come from as far as Africa, Alaska, Paris, Key West, Yellowstone, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and California: and as near as Shelter Island and the East End, Connecticut, Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Provincetown.

Art Goldberg will present photographs from his my most recent expedition to Death Valley National Park, which he made in April this year. Art’s trip involved hiking to a number of different areas of Death Valley. His presentation will be somewhat unusual as he plans to use a web based format called Tripster, which he will talk about briefly before showing the images.
Art will also talk briefly about a Photography workshop trip, which he signed up for with “Wild Photography Holidays” from Oct. 19 through Oct. 25, 2014. The Destination is Iceland and the Tour is called “Northern Lights, Glaciers and Ice Workshop.“
